PSW charged with elder abuse at Ottawa retirement home

An Ottawa personal support worker has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault with a weapon after an incident at a retirement residence in the Trim Road area, the Ottawa Police Service said Wednesday.

A senior received minor injuries in the assault on Feb. 5, a news release added.

Charita Munar, 65, was to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police encouraged anyone with information about the case or wishing to report elder abuse to call 613-236-1222 ext. 7300, Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ca.
