Massive wildfires roaring through the LA area have left neighbourhoods in ruins, killing at least five people.

Three major blazes that erupted just a day earlier grew substantially while winds scattered embers far and wide.

More than 100,000 people were under mandatory evacuations.

The fires blanketed the city with a thick cloud of smoke and ash and destroyed homes across the metropolitan area, from the Pacific Coast inland to Pasadena, home of the famed Rose Parade.

Ms Pugh, who is from Oxford, has been sharing vital updates on her Instagram stories, rounding up helpful information for those over in LA.

This has included evacuation shelters, updates on air quality and which restaurants in the area are offering free meals amid the ongoing disaster.

Before sharing the updates, she said: “I’m just sending so much love to all of you in LA.

“I’m so sorry this happened again.

“It’s scary to even watch from my phone, I can’t imagine how it must feel being in it.
