NRL 2025: Herbie Farnworth, Dolphins vs Roosters, Brisbane Broncos group chat, Pat Carrigan, Magic Round

Any remaining ties Herbie Farnworth had with his former club have been cut with the Dolphins star admitting he was kicked out of the Broncos group chat by Pat Carrigan.
Farnworth made his NRL debut for the Broncos in 2019 and went on to play a total of 79 games before joining their cross-town rivals in 2024.
He’s become one of the best centres in the game but despite flourishing as a Dolphin, Farnworth has remained close with several of his former Broncos teammates.

So close in fact that he remained in the players’ group chat on WhatsApp… until Carrigan decided it was time to flick him, as Farnworth revealed to Code Sports.
“They have kicked me out,” Farnworth laughed.
“I was trying to hang in there, but I guess all those years of being a Bronco means nothing now.
“I think Patty (Carrigan) kicked me out, he’s the admin guy.
“It’s a standard process when you leave clubs, you leave the group, but I’m still good mates with them all.
“I just don’t get any scoops in the group anymore.”

The Dolphins take on the Roosters in the blockbuster 8pm, Friday timeslot during Magic Round — a timeslot usually reserved for the Broncos.
Instead, Brisbane’s glamour team will face the Panthers at 4.05pm on Sunday with Carrigan jokingly saying to Code Sports: “The Broncos have been shafted, Herbie couldn’t wait for his big chance on TV.”
Up to 180,000 fans are expected to hit Suncorp Stadium this weekend with all three days of Magic Round sold out.
But that doesn’t take away from the prime-time Friday night slot that the Dolphins play in against the Roosters — who they defeated in their very-first NRL game in 2023.
“The Roosters win was where it all started for the Dolphins, that first game was a special moment in their history and hopefully we can tap into that,” Farnworth said.
“I played a lot of Friday night games as a Bronco, it’s my favourite timeslot.
“There’s always a big crowd at Suncorp on Friday nights and a big TV audience so it’s great to have that slot for Magic Round.”
