NIZAMABAD: Former minister and Balkonda MLA V. Prashanth Reddy has sharply criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for failing to disburse Rythu Bharosa funds to farmers. Prashanth Reddy accused the Congress government of providing financial benefits only during election periods, contrasting this with former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who he claims timely released Rythu Bandhu funds.

On Saturday, a BRS panel led by former agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy, along with former ministers Jogu Ramanna, Rathod Satyavathi, and Ajay; former MLAs Bajireddy Govardhan and Rasamayi Balkishan; and MLCs Koti Reddy and Yadav Reddy visited Mendora and Argul villages in Nizamabad district.

During the visit, Prashanth Reddy highlighted that 50 per cent of farmers have not yet received their Rythu Bharosa payments. He warned that the lack of these funds, coupled with non-remunerative crop prices, is driving farmers to commit suicide. Reddy stated that 1.60 lakh farmers in Nizamabad district and 31,000 farmers in Balkonda Assembly constituency are still awaiting Rythu Bharosa funds.

In a show of support, the BRS panel handed over Rs 1 lakh in cash to the family members of Kethavath Prem Chand Naik, a farmer who committed suicide.
